Suyeong seafood
A pocha-style restaurant within walking distance of Gwangan Station, strongest on winter yellowtail. There is no dedicated lot, so Seongwon Parking, Gwangan Market Public Parking, or the Suyeong underground car park are the options.
In yellowtail season the main building and the annex both run and still fill. Remote queueing and on-site waiting are available, with a second-floor waiting area. Peak waits have recently reached two hours, so the first dinner slot or an early queue entry is the safer plan.
The usual order runs from large yellowtail sashimi to yellowtail gimbap or futomaki, then a spicy fish stew. Large yellowtail is KRW 69,000 to KRW 129,000 by size and the gimbap is KRW 23,000. The fish is firm without turning heavy with fat, and it takes well to cabbage, seaweed and makjang, or to sesame oil and salt.
The closing stew is better with sancho and Korean mint for a sharper finish, and it warms up a meal that has been all raw fish. The room is closer to a loud pocha than a quiet dining room, and it fits an evening seafood gathering built around winter yellowtail and the gimbap.
